Urging our nation's leaders to end hunger

Portland Oregon Circle of Protection Workshop 2012
First United Methodist Church

The current budget crisis threatens devastating cuts to programs that help poor and hungry people, both in our country and abroad. Learn ways you, your friends, church and campus colleagues, and others can help reduce poverty and hunger by urging Congress to create a circle of protection around programs that help poor and hungry people. Hear stories about programs that transform lives. Get advocacy tools, the creative spark, and the knowledge you need to make a difference.

Bread's advocacy focus in 2012 will be on protecting federal programs most vital to hungry and poor people, including domestic nutrition assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC, poverty-focused development assistance, tax credits--such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit--that help low-income families, and international food aid.

The event is free and open to the public.
